AmalgamAsh succinctly explains how "switches" work. Although the video targets Smile Game Builder, the same applies to other RPG making software.
Video: How Do RPG Making "Switches" Work? (Global, Local Switch Explanation and Examples!)
Smile Game Builder’s "Local Switch" is the same as RPG Maker’s "Self Switch". Smile Game Builder uses 1 Local Switch and RPG Maker has 4!
I created a glass door with see-through glass, continuing with the experimenting with transparency in Smile Game Builder.
Tutorial for SubscribeStar Patrons
A full tutorial on how to create transparent glass or windows in SGB is coming soon exclusively to monthly SubscribeStar patrons.
Someone suggested awhile ago that I create cobwebs. At the time, I didn’t know how to but, as my experience with Blender grows, so too does my experience with creating SGB models.
The next step is to create several variations and styles to fit in house corners, bookcases or on furniture.
Once I figure out how to efficiently produce more cobweb models, I’ll integrate them into an upcoming assets pack, Horror Pack Vol. 1.
Market Pack Vol. 1 – Update v1.2
The Market Pack Vol. 1 is receiving a major update. I decided to do this before expanding the series further.
The main goal of this update is to optimize the models and textures, especially with consistency and proper alignment in mind.
Update v1.2 Release Date
I have no set release date in mind, although I’d ideally like to finish this before the end of November.
Other Expansion Packs
For the following expansions, I’m aiming for a December/Xmas release:
- Market Pack Vol. 1 Add-On (further expanding Vol. 1)
- Signs Vol. 1 (attaching to the front of the market stalls)
Over time, I’ll also start creating some stall "clutter" for each type of merchant.
This is a fabulous example of what can be achieved in SMILE GAME BUILDER if you put your mind to it.

Can you imagine having this in your game? This is truly awesome!
The Compass 4-Direction common event allows you to display a compass to show which direction the player is facing. There is, however, a flaw in the event where it only works in first-person view and not in normal view. This video fixes the preset to work in both normal and first-person views. The

Compass 8-Direction Common Event
Unfortunately, the Compass 8-Direction common event suffers from a similar problem. I was going to include it in this video, but discovered during recording that it didn’t work. I’ll schedule it for a future video.

In addition, any models I create for the series will be freely available for download.
In this tutorial, you can create a simple 3D text model in Blender and import it into Smile Game Builder.
After the (re)release of my Market Pack Vol. 1 for SMILE GAME BUILDER, I’m no longer creating and producing assets or assets packs for the game engine. That said, I may still release some more occasionally in the future. My decision is based on a number of factors, including SGB’s current limitations.
My Assets Packs
These are the assets packs I currently have available:
